About 2 weeks ago I noticed windows media player kind of hesitates when it plays video or songs. It just kind of skips like. My processes have been moving slow also. I have an HP Media Center edition, and at start up, I continously have "Updates from HP Agent" running, which seems to slow the startup of the computer and interfere with IE. I am also noticing this lagging when I play games on my computer also. I have run ccleaner, my webroot spysweeper, norton antivirus, updated my codec to version 2.3 beta, defraged the hard drive, and I still can't stop my computer from lagging. When I pull up the task manager and stop the HP updates, I can get my internet explorer to work like normal, but when I play an MP3 from my library it still skips/lags on wmp. When looking at video clips from the net, it does the same thing. Again, startup and shut down seem to take longer than before as well. Again, when I stop the startup updates, the computer kind of runs fine, but media player skips/lags all the time now. I don't have a virus or malware, any help would be appreciated.
