    Problem,

I have had a reoccurring issue with WMP 11 in Windows Vista 64 bit version. It seems to want to either startup up randomly @ startup, not always at startup, or randomly while computer is running, with or without another program, like itunes, running a music file.

Problem might go away for a week or two, even a month, then rear its ugly head. I thought it was associated to when I had to update the computer (Windows Vista updates / services packs, etc) but it doesn't always come up as a problem while, or immediately after, an update.

Somewhere in my system WMP 11 is getting cued up, and incessantly popping up, even after I close it down. This in turn certainly causes system instability. The WMP 11 window wants to have priority so even when it has popped up, and I choose not to close, and continue using another program, or browsing online, I can type but a letter or two before cursor on primary screen stops blinking, because WMP 11 wants to have priority. Even after I close it 10-100, or more, times, and it doesn't pop back up, system remains unstable in the aforementioned manner.

I have seemingly done all the manual adjustments that I can. They would be removing defaults, going through "autoplay" setup, removing WMP 11 from automatically starting up with startup, yet problem persists.

Dumbfounded and confused is where I am now.

Click 'Start' >Type services.msc in the search box
    Click continue
On the left, find the service for (Windows Media Player network sharing services)
Double-click the service, and right click/properties
change the startup type from Automatic to Manual.

    Samtal,

Wish I could say that I had overlooked that services (network sharing area) but that is not the case. I have it "disabled." That was one of the variables I checked off a couple of months ago when the problem initially sprouted.

    Another suggestion?
