windows media player problem

i can no longer open my windows media player. a box appears and says: "an internal error has occurred" i downloaded the latest verson of WMP. can somebody please help, thank you.

10- the newest one. i updated it to see if it would help. but this problem started with 9.

my media player also does not work in safe mode either

 

Do you have Windows XP?

yes windows xp home edition

 

Try this,

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 jscript.dll, and then click OK.
3. Click OK.
4. Click Start, and then click Run.
5. In the Open box, type regsvr32 vbscript.dll, and then click OK.
6. Click OK.

See if that gets it to working.
