Windows Media Player question

After 10 years of faithful service, my XP desktop finally crapped out. For many years I have installed files on one hard drive and programs/OS on the other...the idea being when this happened I could move the files drive to the new computer.

I have a large library of music and my question: is there a utility to pull all my music into WMP on the new computer? I can of course do it one at a time by clicking "play with WMP" on each file but we're talking thousands of songs here..is there an easier way?

 

Question: do you intend to install that hard drive from your old computer in the new computer or do you just want to transfer files (music, etc.) from it to the new computer?

 

I'm keeping it permanantly

 

I'm not sure of the answer since I haven't used WMP very much in managing music files but I'd bet money that you do not need to pull those music files into WMP one-at-a-time. But, stay tuned to this channel and let's see what someone else has to say.

 

When you first install/set up WMP it gives you an option to migrate "all" media to it from any Drives that you have attached, so you should encounter no issues in syncing your music files into the new player.

Un fortunatley already installed and must have missed that step .

I will fumble around the tool bar and see if i can find that as an option...unless someone wants to post a step by step path? Give me convenience or give me death, right? Version 11.
