I have 2 neighbors using Win XP Pro that say they can no longer view videos in Windows Player. Even after downloading the updates & plug-ins. There screen trys to open the file but it says "acquiring a license" but nothing happens but a white vertical line in the middle of their screen. If they were able to view in the past what changes have occurred where viewing is not possible?

Sounds like they have an issue with registration... I don't really know. Maybe turn off the Portable Media Serial Number service?

Sounds like a problem with registration.. I don't know. Possibly try disabling the Portable Media Serial Number service.
