I have too a problem with windows media player. When I try opening WMP It always asks me to update a new version (and it's not free) and it doesn't want to be opened in old version. I don't want to pay, 'cause I'm glad with my old version!
    what to do?

Pay for WMP update? That doesn't sit well with me. Sounds like something phishy.
    You might have malware.
Try running the Read Me in te Malware forum and then posting the requested logs there.

WMP is available free to all genuine Windows users. Comes through Windows update, or can be manually downloaded.

Like Musk, I would question the prompt asking you to pay for it, unless you need mac-based Microsoft apps for your virtual machine, something I've not heard of.

Moved to own thread as issue is different to the thread in which you posted in.

As mentioned above which Windows version are you using in Parallels?

I have no experience in Parallels, but can you run Windows Update as if you have old WMP9 in XP then WMP11 was offered as an update, BUT this maybe a Parallels issue if via one of its notifications your being asked to pay? if it is a Parallels notification then speak to their support team.

Also do follow MarkTrents advice on malware being on your Windows installation, again have no idea how malware would affect a MAC when running Windows ( so anyone who has parallels and MAC experience please PM me with info over posting in this thread and sidetracking it cheers )

I would assume that you just need to unselect a setting in WMP that says "always check for updates". I do that with most software I install because I prefer to do my own checking.
Sorry, I do not have MWP 9 installed on the windows computer currently running. I have media player classic on that one so I can't check the exact setting.

Yep, WMP 9... No, it's not parallels notification. It's the one of WMP 11. I tried to reload WMP 9, but it asks again to update 11 one.
