windows messenger problem

happy new year to all.

my son has deleted all references he could find to windows messenger on his PC in an attempt to use only MSN. Both were trying to start automatically at start up and he was getting kicked off. how can I run the program to allow me to uncheck the start automatically box?

Click Start > Run > Copy and paste the below:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Copy the contents of the below Quote Box to Notepad. Then click File and then Save As. Change the Save as Type to All Files. Name the file remove.reg and then click save. (make sure you save it somewhere you can find it. Saving it to your Desktop may make that easy.) Then double-click on the remove.reg file on your desktop (or locate it with Windows Explorer and double click on it if not saved to the Desktop) and when it prompts to Add in to the registry, say yes.
