Just curious about something. In the Malware forum the M fighters always instruct the downtrodden infected ones to remove WM using a certain tool they link to.

When I work on XP machines I always disable WM in the services. Is doing this just as good as using the removal tool or am I leaving behind a security vulnerability?
(Should I have posted this in the Malware forum? If yes, my apologies to the Mods). :confused

    Hi BP

Windows Messeneger they are talking about if I have your question right is a network messenging tool and not to be confused with Windows Messenger in the chat app.

its fine disabling in services, but IIRC from SP2 of XP its done automatically by the Service Pack, but the tool as in Shoot the Messeneger is a good alternative too, for those who dont want to deal with the Services list.

So no either way is fine.

Okay, good to know I haven't been screwing up peoples' machines, (at least not in that way).
