How do you import or convert and then import Real Media video into the Windows Movie Maker.

I did some research on my own and I found a suggestion to use AlltoAvi. But this program and this suggestion seemed to be geared to converting .rm files. But the files I have that I have used Real Media to download from the net are .flv files.

    A little help, please?

    Hi,

It looks to me that your question is really how to edit .flv files in WMM. From google results it looks like you have to encode them first to avi or wmv files then MovieMaker will work with them.

This thread has instructions using VLC media player to convert to avi. I'm sure there are lots of other free conversion programs out there and even some online converters that will do the job. I don't use MovieMaker but I would think if you could find a converter that will go from flv to wmv that would be ideal since MovieMaker is probably designed to work best with wmv.

Maybe someone else knows of a good free converter from .flv directly to .wmv?

    Thanks for your advice.

I will look into it. I already have the program you mention.

By the way, what video editor do you use? Is it better than Windows Media Player? Is it Open Source?
