Windows Movie Maker promblem

Hey,

Im having trouble attempting to create videos in windows movie maker. I can upload videos fine, and theyre wmv so they should work. But when i press play either on the timeline, press play on the preview box on the right hand side or right click the clips and press play...nothing happens.

The video should come up on the right hand side as a preview, but it doesnt. Theres no sound or anything and it shows no sign of playing, so I don't think its my video drivers or anything like that.

Is there an obvious answer to this?
I used to use it fine on my old PC I don't see why I can't now and I'm not exactly a retard either.
I also can't work out how I can reinstall the program - can you actually do this?

If you have no answer to my problem could you reccommend me a decent, easy-to-use, free video editor?

I can't find anything to help me in the website or in the help in the program. That website is so un-navigatable..I hate it lol.

I also can't reinstall it because I can't download it as the only way to get it is through windows update, but it knows I already have it...

Can you reccommend and other movie making programs?
