Windows Movie Maker

I have been making some videos lately with music on WMM. I have been publishing them over and over to try and get it perfectly right.

Now, I opened it today and when I went to publish it it came up with an error:

A good way which tells me where or not the Publishing will work is when I press the play button nothing comes up in the preview screen. Usually, it'll start loading all my codecs and they'll appear in my icon tray but this is not happening.

I have plenty of space left. All the files in the project are being found (no big red crosses anywhere).

What else is there to do?

 

When I delete some of the segments of the film the preview screen works and I can publish it.

Why can it not handle the fully-segmented video? It only goes for 4:41.

 

a "way-out-there" jab in the dark --- Pinnacle Studio 9 would do something similar if the "Project File" got corrupted in some way.
In Studio, the project file is just a kind of text file that lists all the source clips and their paths, and all of the formatting or editing that had been done.

I seem to remember that someone had luck with making a copy of the project file to another folder, re-naming it there, and moving it back to the original folder. Then opening the re-named project file was successful.

Maybe you could give that a shot?
