Windows No Disk popup

Hi there, sorry I don’t know where to start this thread but I have seen few related topic threads here so I guesses this will be ok.......

Every time I start up my computer I get the error message "Windows-No Disk" "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert disk into drive." After clicking on the continue option three times the system will go ahead and boot up. But it changes the error every time

1st Click \Device\harddisk1\Dr4
2nd click \Device\harddisk2\Dr5
3rd click \Device\harddisk3\Dr6

But then when I log into y account every thing start nicely and after a while it freeze and nothing works not even task manager. I have done the selective startup from msconfig but made no difference...

I can work in safe mode and when I choose safe mode option it never shows that error or popup. I don’t know what to do............

It sounds like your IDE (or SATA if that's what you have) controller drivers are messed up or the controller itself is starting to go out. Re-install your motherboard chipset drivers and see if that helps. It could also be that your hard drive is starting to fail. Go to your HD maker's web site, download and run their diagnostic to test your HD's health..... you may want to think about backing up all your important data fairly soon. If your HD is failing, and is less than 3 years old, you can get a free replacement under warranty from the manufacturer. Most have an online warranty check where you just enter the serial number and it'll tell you the warranty status of the drive....

Thanks for the reply and I ll try the drivers. Regarding warranty I have 3 years warranty with this PC (Medion).

I guess I ll have to ready for re-install the XP.
