I am trying to help a friend using windows NT, I recently was trying to get her in safe mode, when an error message came up saying operating system not found. I was trying to fix yet another problem prior to that when i was getting an error message saying "Windows Could Not Start Because the Following File Is Missing or Corrupt: \Winnt\System32\Config\Systemced" Can somebody please help.

    HI!
I feel for ya. Same thing happened to me using Windows 2000 Professional.
    Same exact errors.
Only thing I could do was a reinstall ( happened 4 times in less than a year)and then finally all went down the tubes because the hard drive 'died'.
That was the problem...a failing hard drive. You lose critical system files.
Hope she has the CD. If you get her back up and running be sure to run diagnostics on the hard drive.
