    Hi again.

I just upgraded my old XP to a win7-64 bit pro. So far so good, but I wish to free up the space taken up by windows.old files. I got all the stuff I needed from there backed up before I started. I've tried the disk cleanup and the previous installation isn't even showing on the menu.

Is there another way of removing the files, or will they be removed automatically after a period of time?

    Thanks, JJ

I suspect you have already been through THIS process, but just in case ...

First thing I tried. The computer doesn't come up with a option to remove the old OS files.

I also tried a cmd process, but it had been written for 8 and I couldn't get the admin possession of the files to delete. It would be nice to get rid of them, they take up something like 20 G on my hard drive. I would have opted for a clean format of the drive, I was ready for that, but was not offered it on install.
