Try to make this as complete and short as possible:

Had to repair a WindowsXP SP3 laptop - had a boot time error that killed by windows. Used the repair option with my install disc.

Then for some reason my computer had renamed my login account name from: "mickey" to "mickey.compaqv2000" - making my desktop a big void. I believe that my files are still there - but under a different user folder of just "mickey".

Anyone know how to fix this - so that I can get all my original desktop folders back? I have them on a USB drive but that is a pain to re-do.

    Thank you

    Kevin

are you able to access the folder? i'm assuming you arent...otherwise you could just copy the stuff over. you may need to take ownership of that account in order for you to access the folder(s)
