Windows RT 8.1 update from Windows Store

I hear that Microsoft pulled Windows RT 8.1 update from Windows Store. Microsoft pulled the RT 8.1 update some time in the morning on October 19 - two days after it first made it available for download by existing Windows RT users. Evidentially, the problem was that Windows RT users were having difficulties in locating and then finally getting the update process to begin on their ARM-based Microsoft-made and OEM devices.

Here's the official statement from Microsoft, posted to its community site:

"Microsoft is investigating a situation affecting a limited number of users updating their Windows RT devices to Windows RT 8.1. As a result, we have temporarily removed the Windows RT 8.1 update from the Windows Store. We are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience. We will provide updates as they become available."​

I just installed the 8.1 update on Saturday from a Windows 8.0 OEM - thank god it wasn't RT which I've heard caused many odd problems for downloaders with no error messages or anything. I figured I'd wait 'till the next day after the 18th opening day to install the Windows 8.1 update. Just so everyone knows, it is a long process (even just to "update"). I have a very fast internet connection (about 25MBs) and just the download alone took just under four hours to complete. Then it must take its sweet time updating apps, devices, etc. restarting again and again throughout the process - which took around another hour or so.

Either way, I'm really glad that this was just an "update" and that I do not have to reinstall ALL my programs and utilities once again.
