Windows Search Help! Don't Lose Your Search Process

Something I've really hated for so many years is windows search.
It could take 5 or 10 minutes to scan all my drives and files to find what I'm looking for.
A list of files are produced and it keeps adding to the list as it finds more.
But what I hate is when I think I found it, I double click it or open in file location
and then the entire search window DISAPPEARS cuz it opened the file I clicked!

Then when I find out that file isn't what I was looking for and go back, I have to
do the entire search all over again!

Isn't there a way to open the file in a completely separate window so that
the windows search can continue to keep searching without it being interrupted
and being reset to start again at the beginning?

See how you get on with Everything. Most ppl find it easier and quicker to use than Windows Search.

I will try that software.
As for Windows Search, so that means there is no workaround to open a file in a separate window so the main window can continue searching and not have to reset and start again when I click back?

Edit: wow, Everything is excellent! That thing is fast!

 

Use advanced search if you need to search inside files.
