    Hi all,

My windows secur. center is saying that my anti-virus is not turned on, however whenever i select "turn on" i do it and then the warning never goes away. Any tips?

Currently am using Symantec because its free through my university however I have heard from others that I may want to try something that is less resource hungry like anti-vir or avast! Could Symantec be the reason that this error keeps popping up?

    Thanks for any help....

You can turn off windows security alerts, go to security center
on the left of page, click on change the way security center alerts me
    then uncheck the boxes

I run Avast, me like it....:major

Try to open Symantec. Update it. Then turn of the firewall. And turn of the anti-virus and anti-spyware. Then turn both back on again. Any change?

A clean reinstall of Symantec could also help. Use this tool. Then reinstall. http://majorgeeks.com/Norton_Removal_Tool_SymNRT_d4749.html

Norton/Symantec is not exactly popular. And for good reasons. However, Avast! is probably not any better than what you have now.

I already use SAS and ComodoBOClean in conjunction with spyware blaster, my scans have been fine and i tried the update but no go. Ill try the other stuff soon....

Then a reinstall hopefully will do it. What other security programs have you installed? This could also be a compatibility issue.

By the way: there's a new SpywareBlaster ready for download. A new version came out the day before yesterday: http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html

    Problem fixed,

I'm not exactly sure what did it though. I grabbed that SB update as well the other day, and everythings ok. Thanks for the help!
