Windows Server 2003 Question

Can Windows server 2003 be installed in a computer that already has an Operating System? as a double boot OS. With the server OS on it's own hard drive. The reason I ask is b/c I want to have my computer be a regular computer and some times be a server, is this possible? Here is my system specs.

Motherboard: Gibabyte GA EX58-UD3R
CPU: Intel i7 920
Memory: 6Gb Memory
GPU: MSI 4550 512mb
HDD: Hitachi 500 gb for server OS

Reason to setup a server. There are 4 other pc's at home that I want to create a network with and learn about networking.

i know you can dual boot it on a different partition, just not sure how you would install it on its own hard drive though. im not good with that stuff.

Thing is though, if youre going to make a domain and learn active directory, youre going to need professional versions of windows on other computers if you want to join them to your domain.

Different partition will be fine, if I can dual boot. The other computers OS is Windows 7 64bit. Will that work?

 

if theyre professional or ultimate versions, yeah. cant join home to domains. obviously, if you just want to mess around with the server and not join computers, it doesnt matter. but to see the effects of changes you make in AD or group policies, youll want at least 1 host computer.

The os i'm working with is win 7 utimate.
