Hi, I'm relatively new to using servers and would appreciate some help to what I'm sure will be an easy solution. I have three computers set up and access a server (Windows Server 2003) to access a business program, I have no problem connecting to it and running said program, but what I would like to know is if I can make a shortcut to this program on my client computer without having to go through remote desktop to access this server.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your reply, I think that might be a way to accomplish this, but I'm still not sure what my parameters are. Is there a way to have the server folders show up on my client computer? Like a network drive?

in all honesty im not sure.

I have a small network here in the office and will try and set up something similar and look at the results.

im not sure having the drives networked will help but i'm sure it wont hurt.

are you logging on to a domain controller(server 2003) ?

ie when you power up do you log on to your computer OR on to the domain, ( dahdah.co.uk) or .local etc, or is it just an application server your using?

Share the folder the program is installed in and try to run it from there. If it works right click the exe and create a shortcut.
It may work or it may not. It depends on what dependacies are need to run the app.
That is why many people are using virtual app packages like Thinstall or Cameyo (free)

Thank you for the tips! I figured out the problem was that I was just connecting to the server through a remote connection not actually logging in to the domain controller, I'll do some tweaking on it tonight.

Thanks so much again for all the help!!
