windows server 2008 NIC unavailable

    i just installed windows server 2008 in vmware workstation and the virtual nic card is not listed when i go into the network and sharing center, what can i do to get the ethernet interface to show up

    ps. this also happens when i install it on a real machine, the network interfaces aren't listed. is it the os or do i need to provide windows with drivers for the ethernet ports
