I have two computers- Windows XP on Compaq Presario S500ny & Windows Vista Business on Dell Optiplex 745 that do not send or receive email. Since Verizon switched to SSL, I have problems with these two computers. I have another computer, Dell Demension 300 with Windows XP, that has Windows Live email that can send and receive with no problem.

I have contacted Verizon on their live chat. They checked my settings and found nothing wrong, all the settings were correct. They concluded that the devices were defected and to contact Windows.

I then googled "Windows live mail settings for Verizon" The only solution they had was to use clear text instead of APOP (what ever that is). I then changed outgoing mail to plain text. That didn't help any. Perhaps I need to change the text elsewhere.

If that would help me, can you tell me how to change the text to clear?

If there is something else that I may try, I'm all ears.
