so i cant seem to get Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to work, Is there another program that will save my windows settings & explorer settings from my old pc, or failing that is there a guide somewhere that will run me through how i should have it set up? (xp sp3)

Unless the way you had it set up before is exactly the way you want your new one set up, take this opportunity to set up your new computer the way you wished you had set up the old one. For example, I wish I had set myself up as the administrator for the entire system (and I would have done that, if I had known that option was available, when I bought the computer). I'm not saying that's what you should do, but there might be other things thing you now have an opportunity to change. By the way, my experience with the File and Transfer Wizard was the same as yours --- it didn't work very well, and very few programs/apps were actually transferred.
