Windows seven Ad-hoc

ok i hope im in the right area for this. i am running windows 7 on my laptop pro 64 bit to be exact. I go to school and live in a dorm where we do not have internet. me and some friends have set up a windows ad hoc network to play games, it works on warcraft 3 and the unreal games but we want to play diablo 2 together. to do that the only thing we can see is with tcp/ip and we can't seem to get that to work with the ad-hoc. i was wondering is this at all possible and if so can you guys advise me on how to set it up? i won't have net access long today but i will see if i can have someone watch this thread for me the rest of the night to see if you can help. and i will check agian tomrrow while im acctually at the school where the net is at.
