Windows Start-Up annoyance(s)

Having just put a brand new XP install on my brother's machine, every time Windows starts we see this:

even though we've installed the Comodo Anti-virus. How can we get rid of it?

Also when we first boot up each day, Internet Explorer will start opening by itself trying to interest us in an anti spyware app? Does anyone know anything about this? :confused
