Windows Steady State

Hey there fellow geeks,

Have a querry for anyone who uses Windows Steady State.

I am relatively new to this application, although the facility to protect the contents of drive C:\ from being altered with a simple click of the button is awesome, especially in a shared user environment. However leading on from this, and realising that nothing is perfect and there a possibly many flaws to this thought process, would this not make it a powerful tool to use when scanning suspect content / files such as putting in a suspected virus infected media such as a secondary Hard disk...? lets just say for arguments sake as it were, you were tasked with sorting through other peoples malware issues for example and were tired of reimaging your testing unit every day.

or alternatively if one had another partition on the same Hard disk, and downloaded to this drive data from websurfing, friends files, other untrusted sources etc.. In effect download all your desired apps to the E:\2ND partition of the same Hard drive, then scan that data for issues, if infected simply in the worst case scenario format E:\ and restore from backup. Use steady state to restore C:\ if this is suspected of infection...safety first. This takes about five or so minutes to restore C:\ with XP Pro SP3 (32bit) - on a P4 2.6GHz / 512MB and 20Gb partition for C:/
