I am having trouble with a program (AOL software) launching by itself after I log off. I have tried several times to fix the problem by unchecking all AOL-related items/commands under the Startup tab with the configuration utility (see list below) but it doesn't resolve the issue. I also disabled the AOL Connectivity Service under the Services tab. I looked under each tab and found the following under the WIN.INI tab:

WAOL--clicking on it opens a drop down menu with the following 3 entries (in order)
    Installed=
    App Path= C:\Program Files\AOL9.0
    Shared Path= C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOLSHARE

Is it safe (i.e. won't completely screw up my system) to disable this file? If it is and I DO disable the file, will it resolve the issue? I have called AOL twice and they seem to have no clue whatsoever how to fix this problem. I am running Windows XP Profesesional with Service Pack 3.

Startup Items/Commands/Locations (as listed in Startup window)

    AOL *C:\ProgramFiles\AOL9.0\AOL.EXE* -b HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    AOL *C:\ProgramFiles\Miscrosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    AOL Software C:\\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\AOL\1346170664\ee\AOLSoftware.exe
