Yesterday I have this programs suddenly requesting for permission to access the Internet after I rebooted my PC.

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SYSTEM32.EXE

Can someone tell me why this programs needs to have access to the Internet? It had never before requesting for permission thus I am denying it. Could it happen from me updating to DirectX 9.a ? But that was last week and it never ask for access until yesterday.

Zonealarm shows that it was connecting to 127.0.01:1029 I know that it was looping back to my own PC but why is this requesting for permission now?

    BTW, using Win ME.

I check out that web already BUT the file location differ from the one I have in my PC. Besides, I don't have the nasty icon on my taskbar neither do I have a popup message at the said time.

BUT, now I notice there's an entry in my startup content for the file, SYSTEM32.EXE

Sometimes I get an error message after my browser crash for no apparent reason. Stating "Run-time error "462" The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable"

    Norton detect nothing.

So this starts up with windows all the time NOW?

For curiosity check to see if you have either of these lines in your registry.......

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mirabilis\ICQ\Agent\Apps\

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon ( with a value called "Shell"="Explorer.exe %system%\System32.exe" )

    Also do you use Kazaa?

I'm convinced you have a virus/trojan BUT which one who knows as alot of them use the disguise of System32.exe!
