    Hi you awsome geeks,
This is a question from my sisters computer, she cannot get online. She downloaded a windows update and it appearently replaced the driver for her linksys adapter driver. We found the correct driver copied it with an unzip utility (or whatever its called) but we can't seem to get it activated on her computer. We do have a strange configuation, we have cox internet, an airlink router (that goes much farther than the old linksys) that came with an adapter that did not work, so her friend that is computer savy used the old linksys adapter. This was working fine untill she updated. So I've tried just opening the unzip, and the linksys driver, tried the add - remove programs just dosn't seem to install. Airlink and cox say linksys has to deal with it. Linksys wanted $30 just to tell us how to download the driver (we have the driver number and it was available online free!!??) and would not gaurentee it would correct the problem AND if we called back it would be another $30!! Her computer savy friend is out of town so we are stuck! Any sugestions??
    Thanks for any help!
    Lyn

I would be suprised to find that a Windows update actually downloaded a new Linksys driver however if it did indeed do that you will be able to return to the old one using the windows Rollback Driver proceedure. You don't need to download anything further.

    Go to Device Manager
Hold the Windows key down and press pause/break
Choose the ahrdware tab and device manager
select the linksys and choose the properties button
    Choose the drive tab
If the driver has been updated you will be able to choose earlier drivers from the roll back driver button.

Using the same instructions you can replace the current driver if rollback doesn't work, just chose update driver and select the folder you unzipped the driver to.
