i've looked around the forums and i cant seem to find the answers. here is what happened. i have an Asus P7P55D Pro Motherboard with the Core i5 cpu and windows 7 64 pro.
everything was fine till i did the windows update last night, Feb 8, 2011. i rebooted after the update and my mouse wouldn't work. tried a different usb mouse, nothing. so i go to Device Manager and the attached shot shows the failed devices. i don't have a PS mouse so i'm stuck. i tried uninstalling the usb controller and have windows discover the new hardware and reinstall. that didn't work.
i can't find the drivers for that device. or am i missing something?:confused
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    thx

    Hi

As the Enhanced USB Controller is part of the Chipset then re-install the Chipset for your motherboard HERE (the one highlighted in yellow box, top one of the three) then reboot and see how your getting on.

Update. i uninstalled the two usb controllers and the setup guide finished saying it has installed properly. but when i reboot windows tries to install them and they fail.

Update 2. since it's a chipset Driver and you directed me to the Asus website i dug out my install disk for the motherboard. it has the Intel Chipset Driver install on the menu. again, once i uninstall the USB controllers and it says it has installed fine. but when i reboot, windows does the install for new hardware and it fails

sorry guys i didn't get back sooner
i'm back in business. for some reason the install pack from the Asus website didn't work, but since i had the original install disk for the motherboard i tried that. And after some trial and error it fired right up and installed everything fine. thanks tgell for the second opinion. and big thanks to DavidGP for pointing me in the right directions
