Hi, I am having an issue with Windows Update error 80004002. I have done all the microsoft fixes to no avail. Re registered DLL's, Tried theirWindowsUpsateAgent, did Microsoft Fixit. It's driving me nuts. If anyone has any suggestions...please suggest away. Oh I also ran the cmd scannow. Found some corrupt files it couldn't clean..Not sure what to do. Thanks for any help ahead of time

Go here and try what is suggested in posts #2 and #3.

This is troubling because there might be several things wrong with your Vista install.

    Cheryl22,

FYI, if one of the files that SFC /scannow barfed on was settings.ini for Sidebar, Microsoft admits there is a conflict between SFC and Sidebar and that SFC wrongly reports that settings.ini cannot be repaired.
