Windows Update error but...

theres no error message, I restart my computer and then after a while, it prompts me again to restart my computer because it just downloaded the same updates and is ready to install them again.

I dont know if its just not properly installing them, or it doesnt realize the updates are already installed but either way it keeps popping up asking me to restart. I searched a round a bit and everyone else seems to get an error message.

I have xp and that link says I need Internet explorer, but I use firefox

 

ok I downloaded internet explorer

it says canceled for "Security Update for Windows XP (KB968537)" for like 20 attemps in the past 3 days

 

I already have CC and ran it

I tried to manually install and got an error message saying "The file C:/windows/system32/win32k.sys is already in use"

 

does anyone know how to stop the pop up that prompts me to restart my comp every 5 mins?

 

its the same issue, Its says new update download but I need to restart to install them. It pops up with a 5 min time limit, if I dont click yes or no it does it automatically. I just wanted to disable this till I can find a fix for the download not installing properly.

it seems to be sort of random, but once it starts it continues to prompt me every 5 mins until I do it the Im ok for a while.

I have no idea how to do a screenshot. "print screen" doesnt appear to do anything. :confused

its just a restart warning, so it doesnt just restart on you while you are doing something. If you wait it just restarts, same if you hit restart now.

its just the updates are being canceled for reasons unknown and the update restart thing constantly pops up
