Ever since I tried to update Windows in June 2010, I have keep getting an Error 1706 message stating: No valid source could be found fro product Roxio Media Manager. The Windows installer cannot continue. It then says the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. It then says to insert the "Roxio Media Manager" disk and click ok.

Problem is I don't have this CD. Another box keeps looping stating "Please wait while Windows configures Roxio Media Manager." What is causing this? How can I stop this annoying issue?
    Thanks!:confused

Have you ran virus scans if not click this link http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=208809 and start a full clean out then repost into malware forum and post with the required logs and then be patient as the malware fighters can become a little busy at times, make sure you follow all the instructions to the full !

Go to Start > Run> type in msconfig > OK > Startup tab and uncheck anything related to Roxio Media Manager ?

    Rusty,
I tried to do the first thing on the list to remove Java and I could not do this in the control panel. It indicated an Error 1500 that there is another installation in progress and could not remove the program. I am assuming it is the Roxio Media Manager that is looping Windows trying to configure Roxio Media Manager over and over again. I did run avg, ccleaner, ad-aware, and spybot search and destroy before attempting the first thing on the list of House Cleaning.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you try the Windows Installer clean up link provided in post #5 ?
Did you try NICK ADSL UK's, suggestion and try an update after a reboot?
    What OS are you on?
Disable auto updates altogether. Try a manual update. If on XP you get the option for "custom" start with one at a time for installation. On Vista you will get an option to download and "let me choose to install" and "check for updates and let me install."

Either OS, read up on the KB offered and avoid the one pertaining to roxio. Install one at a time. If you hit the same error on a KB- hide from updates, or don't select to install next time round.
Not a solution but at least the other critical/cumulative security updates should install.

    Cheers..
