Windows Update Issue

After each manual WU I can not go back and check for updates again until I delete this entry with HijackThis. Once I delete that entry I can then go back and run the updates.

Before deleting that entry at the update site I get the error of:

I've tried all of the MS suggestions to no avail. Anybody have some suggestions?

Can try emptying the software distribution folder, think I remember that working for someone... Method 10 here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798

Try adding below to trusted zone

http://Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
Http://V4.Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://Download.Windowsupdate.com

Try to manually update the update agent if no other ideas come up or work.

Personally I would look in log and see if you can find an error code, might narrow it down, regretfully the list of possible culprits is long. (turn off word wrap and lower font to get a easy to read format)

 

Thanks Cat. It's actually IE6 and XP-SP3. It's my parents computer and I won't be over there for a few more days.

I've tried most of that except for the software distribution folder. I'll be sure to try and let you know though. Almost forgot I posted this

So I've found! Atleast the auto updates are still working so I know they are getting updated. It's just a pain not being able to check manually without using HJT first.
