Windows Update Issue

Every time that I run Windows Update the following update appears in High-priority updates: “Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 (KB953297)”. It also says that the update has been “Downloaded; ready to install”. I click ‘Review and install updates’ then I click the button ‘Install Updates’. It always says that the update was successfully installed. But, the next time that I run Windows Updates the same update is there.

Any suggestions what is going on? How can I resolve this? Do I need this update? My PC has Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on it.

Thank you for the advice.

I did as advised but it did not resolve the issue. So, I have tried the whole process twice more. However, I still have the same problem.

The issue seems to be that it has been downloaded to my PC, according to Windows Updates, but it is the install that keeps failing.

Any further suggestions/advice, please?

Tried the solution in your link. It didn't work and I still have the problem.

What should I try next?
