Windows Update preventing Internet Access

This morning I came to use my computer and found everything running as usual, apart from the fact a microsoft prompt came up telling me that in three minutes or so my computer would restart (due to having installed updates) unless I chose a following option allowing it to restart now, or restart later. I chose "restart later". I went away from my computer for about 20 minutes, only to return at the "welcome screen" and find myself logged off (obviously the computer had restarted). I re-entered my profile and found that I could not connect to the internet whatever programme I was using (browsers, games, or instant messengers).
I checked the connection on the computer I am using, which runs off the same internet connection, and found it to be fine with one difference: the updates had not been installed.
After about 3 hours I went back to my original computer after having become thoroughly annoyed and turning it off. I performed a system restore taking it back to yesterday, before the updates were installed and the internet then worked.

I unfortunatley let another family member use the computer, they installed the updates even though I had informed them what the updates did. I now find I cannot use the internet at all and find I have no restore point to return to.

I have the names of the updates installed (KB951748, KB890830 and KB951978) and have already tried manually finding them and uninstalling them with the following programmes: JV16 powertools, CrapCleaner and the normal "remove programmes" in the control panel. I was wondering if anyone knew how I can locate and uninstall these files as I have been unable to do so, so far, and find they are prohibiting my internet access.

This is the fix for that http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=cfg&message.id=52727

Just hope checkpoint can work this one out as ZA is a popular firewall, as updating core OS files will always happen at times in Windows so 3rd party applications need to have a check in place to allow user to reset database

Other workarounds that are filtering out are to uninstall KB951748 which is the critical update, until Checkpoint ZA fix this and issue an update, causing this or reduce your setting in ZA Internet Zone to medium temporarily until fixed, if you're behind a routers NAT or SPI firewalls then your as ok as you can be.

The setting the slider for ZA Internet Zone to medium or using the 1st fix above in reseting the ZA database are what I would concider best options as updates to the TCP Stack are crucial security ones.

Users of Vista/SP1 with ZA are unaffected
