windows update problem

I am running windows 7 ultimate. It has been working fine until now when I tried to check for windows update and receive the attached message. I have run Malaware and it found nothing. I have also restarted windows. Any thoughts? Thanks

 

Go to your Services and look for Windows update and start it then make it automatic to run you must have run a Registry cleaner some times they can mess them up.

The way too open start then run then in run Type Msconfig a small window will popup look for services in list.

Then in the list Look for windows update or in Xp its called Automatic update.

Then tick it on then enable in the lower right corner

Then Apply then ok it might ask you too restart.

 

Thanks. Windows update was already checked. I unchecked it and checked it again. Any other thoughts? I probable did run Crapcleaner

 

I would try checking the status of the Windows Update service.

Click the start button and enter "services.msc" in the search field then press enter.

Scroll down until you find Windows Update and check the Status, it should say Started but may not say anything if the services is stopped. If the service is stopped you can try to start it by right-clicking the service (Windows Udpate) and selecting "start". Also check the Startup type which should be set to "Automatic (Delayed Start)".

After you start the service you may want to refresh the window (Action > Refresh). Sometimes the service will start and then stop. If this should happen then Windows Update is having problems.

 

Make sure your date and time are set correctly, as this may cause issues with windows updates as well.
