Windows update problem

My computer is WinXp Pro (No SP) and i wanted to update it. So i went to microsoft site and clicked on the link...i downloaded everything except this one update which never got downloaded....A Internet Security Update. It kept on saying that it got installed, but windows update kept on popping right back up and downloading it over and over again the same one. I know its the same one because of the number and the update. So how would i be able to dix this problem?

If the update is listed under Add/Remove programs (from Control Panel) then remove it from there. Reboot and then let it download that update again and see if that then 'sticks'.

If Yargwels good advice doesnt solve the problem, note down the KB number of the faulting update and search for the manual download here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Search.aspx?displaylang=en and install it, then go back to windows or microsoft update and scan for updates.
