Windows Update Problems

So here's my problem the windows update icon pops up in quick launch bar (in the bottom right with a yellow shield with ! in it.) I go to update click "express installation" and it completes the task then after I restart my computer it's still there. I've repeated this multiple times and I've done the custom installation too also the one were you go to <start>Turn off>Turn off with shield> that does work either so if anyone could give me so feedback that would be great!Thanks

To update this problem that I'm still having The security update that just wouldn't install. Over the last 3 weeks about every day I attempt to update (Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Service 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB936181) it NEVER goes any no matter how many times I try to update it. It's kind of annoying and concerning at the same time. I've ran out if Ideas. Thanks for the help.

Hi

Have you tried the manual route to installing via this link http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms07-042.mspx look down list and get the appropriate one for your OS, then if installed go back to Windows Update and check its not listed for install anymore ( may need reboot also )

Aslo check this for known issues and see if any of the steps help http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936181 , especially this advice http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941729/
