    Hi
My wifes laptop running win 10 has done the update but now has a blue screen asking what keyboard layout she wants.
Have done the forced shut down to get the recovery page but none of the options will work, I press F1 to go to recovery options but nothing happens and after about a minute it shuts down.

    Hi
Thanks for taking the time to reply, unfortunately the laptop will only go to the recovery screen which appears to be locked as none of the options i.e. press F1, press return, work.

Then I suspect you'll have to download the 1709 ISO. "Burn" it on a working computer.
If the laptop doesn't have an optical drive, then you create a bootable USB stick.
Then boot into the BIOS of the locked computer, set it to boot from either a USB stick or DVD and install a fresh copy. Unfortunately, doing this your wife will lose all her files and programs she's installed.

Note: I don't run Windows 10. I also image four Windows 7 and one XP computer in the house. If something breaks, I restore the most current image. I can't begin to tell you how many times this has saved me.
