Windows update

i cant get any updates when i selct on windows updates, it jsut say searching for updates no matter how long i leave it. sometimes it will say and quote Error number: 0x800B0001,there is nothing of any use in the esctions they provide.

anyone else had similar problems if so i will be grateful of help

yeah,i looked there it didnt help.
i then went toask inthe forum on the site....this page cannot be displayed....etc etc bullshit

 

Try this

1. Open a CMD.EXE windows.

2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

regsvr32 /s Softpub.dll
regsvr32 /s Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /s Initpki.dll

 

Well the link on the page Kodo gave matches your symptoms but since you couldn't get it to work, try this simple thing (it might help)

~ Clear the IE cache files (not from the Internet Options window though!) use Windows Explorer:

First close out of ALL applications, then:

1) Right-click on START button
2) left-click on EXPLORE
3) Explore to \Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp
4) Delete all files in the TEMP folder.
5) Also delete all files in the \Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder
6) Close IE and open it back up and run the update process.


PS. If you can't see LOCAL SETTING in Windows Explorer, then do this:
START > Control Panel > Folder Options > View > select 'Show hidden files and folders'
