Windows Update

While I was performing windows update today I ran through problems. During the installation period, the windows validation file and the SP 3 for Office XP fail to install. All the other updates were successfully installed. What's the problem? Thanks.

 

i know beginning today that microsoft check if you have a legit copy of your OS. and others microsoft program.

If your copy are legit try to clean your cache, cookie and temp files.

And try again. i knows for me that did the trick.

P.S : I am not assuming you have a copy just a headup....

 

i know about that, my copy is legitimate. other microsoft downloads on their site work fine and their validation step have varified that. I've had a problem with sporadic failed downloads for a few months now.

 

Sometimes an update from MS fails for no other reason then there are server problems on their end. Try again, may work, may not work. If it fails then dwonload the update to your desktop and install it that way.

 

Well I went on www.howtotell.com and downloaded the update "windows genuine advantage validation tool" manually but it still brings it up in windows update. the tool has varified that min is genuine. after installation, i restarted just to make sure and it still brings that update up; it still won't install. I always clear my cache, temp file, and such after every browsing session so i know that that's not an issue.
