Dell Inspirion Vista.

13 important updates, only one installed. Why?

Well, did you try to do the update again? Did you perhaps record the error that you got? What service pack ye running with vista?

I ttried it twice. It installed one, then I tried it again. It showed 12 but none of them were downloaded.

With XP I could run Control Panel and see exactly what is installed. I can't do that with Vista so I have no idea which SP I have or where to find it. Contol Panel gives me very little.

This is the unfriendliest Windows I've ever worked with.

Hi

To find the SP you right click Computer and choose Properties (can type in the start search box winver and hit enter)

In Windows Update in Vista you can see the History easily (this also will give you error codes also) Update in Vista is friendlier than XP ever was, it gives you info on what the update actually is, the left menu list has the View Update History option.

This is spare PC of mine with Vista and images are of the Update and History pages.

and double click in the History page one of the failed installs and it will show you a page with the update and the error code.
