I have my windows automatic updates set to happen at 3:00am daily. Apparently it is not connecting to the internet to do this. How can I set it up to do this everyday at 3am? It is very annoying when the updates start downloading and I am trying to browse the internet. NO Browsing speed at all.

This has actually prompted me to sign up for DSL.

In order to check for updates your computer needs to be already connected to the net, re: DSL/Cable. etc. Won't work automatically if you are using dial-up...WU cannot 'dial' the connection to connect.

As you are on Dial-up, unless your dialup preferences from your ISP allow you to setup a timer setup to dialup for you then you will have to manually dialup as you most likely do now and continue to get the Windows Updates.

Sadly their is no way around having a good surfing speed when downloading updates or large files on DUN, when I had DUN, I used to start updates, either when I was going out or watching TV and not using mt PC.

DSL will greatly help in allowing you to get the downloads quickly thus minimising the loss of surfing speeds ( dependant on DSL speed of service you buy )
