Windows Vista activation key

Hi,

I was navigating on Internet as usual (normal sites) when a windows showed up and told me my activation key didn't work (i don't remember precisely what). Now my wallpaper is all black and it is written my copy of windows isn't authentic.

I tried to activate the key but it doesn't work.

When I boot my computer, it is written that I have to activate the key and that I can choose to do it now or later.
Please help me! I don't even know why it is like that, and I don't even understand what is an activation key :hammer

Hi

Activation key is where your version of Windows will check to see if its legal and legitimate, I note your PC is a HP/Compaq so calling Microsoft support may not help here as they can normally activate it for you.

Weird and odd occurances can cause this, and too many to mention, but a driver update, to malware can be the cause.

But have you tried to activate it again from the menu list that pops up, my french is not good but the top option is the Online Activation option, if that doesnt work give HP/Compaq Support a call.

Your activation key should be on a sticker on the back or bottom of your computer.
