windows vista and windows 7 strip down from older OS

Why did they strip down windows vista and windows 7?

All other OS's had directory tree when saving files or searching.All starting at the root directory .

All other OS's had Advance search

Not to say internet temp folder and history moved out windows folder to user profile folder .The use of hidden folders.


The use of win32 and user profile.

The list of frequent saved files cannot be removed in save box to give file name and place to save .The windows index.dat cannot be removed.
