windows vista error code 0x0008086

My toshiba laptop crashed last night and all I get is the error code shown above. Ive tried safe mode but the drivers do not load and i end up back to the blue screen and can get no further so sending this request with an old computer
The screen says to disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing but cant see how to do this in setup menu (f2) and as safe mode doesnt load windows cant get into uninstall new programmes.

Anyone any ideas please?

yes . thanks for responding. have now found info on net to say hard drive needs replaced at this stage

many thanks for the help but afraid hard drive is dead. toshiba are going to replace as under warranty. unfortunately i lose my files but not the laptop thankfully

Sorry to hear about your drive, but at least it's under warranty...

As far as your files are concerned, there are ways to retrieve your data if you so desire - if the drive is functional at all, you may be able to access it as a slave drive and/or with recovery tools listed here at MajorGeeks...if the drive is completely inoperable, there are dedicated recovery labs that will disassemble the drive to platter-level and can salvage valuable data...

 

Yes , I do agree with caliban. Actually this error is due to missing of some files of operating system. So, first try to repair the missing ones or else you would have to reinstall the OS.
But wait! here, if you haven't partitioned your hard drive you can lose your entire data.

I hope you have well partitioned your hard drive . After re-installation you can use any data recovery software to get your data. There are so many experts like Stellar Phoenix , to provide service . If you want online support then just google for data recovery software and use them .
