Windows Vista for P3 Computer

Hey everyone im thinking about buying Windows Vista can anyone let me know which version of Windows Vista would be best for my computer...
I have a Pentium3 1GHz computer with 512MB RAM and a 16MB Video card if you want more specs just ask i also have a 40gig hd fairly new. I'm just looking for a version of Vista for home use like surfing around the net and playing some flash games and use of MSN and microsof office.

 

You'd almost have to get Vista Home Basic, and even that may be too much for the PC. It'll run, but response time will be VERY slow. Things won't open very fast and it would be a very frustrating experience (for me anyway, but I'm not patient). IMO, you'd be better off running XP; I think that it would be OK with your specs...

Thanks for the advice yea i tried vista on a friends computer recently and has pretty much same specs as me and it's pretty slow

Here's the official system requirements: Windows Vista recommended system requirements. As you can see, the video part of your system is the major weakness.

Are you currently running Win XP? I'd stick with it. Nothing is your stated usage requires Vista.

 

Yeah and i rekon that vista will take up alot more of a 40 gig hard drive than XP. Once installed.. I could be wrong. but i would stick with XP

 

Vista is about a 10 gig install.

 

Does it use up more of the hard drive for the page file though....
