windows vista hangs at shutdown

Please if any can helpme on this:
I have a Laptop gateway MT3707 windows vista home premium -Intel pentium Duo Core - 1.60 ghz - 1024 Memory Ram -Ati Radeonxpress 200m
and I have this problem:

this laptop have a 4 months old, all the updates are fine, but in the past months , I have formated all my hard drive to the original configuration, because all working fine in my pc, but when I install the program called "the printshop 22 ( broderbound) the first time what I install this program do it my cd drive its not reconogised, then the second time do it my laptop hang at shudown ( never shutdown completaly )

the last week, when I see in the borderbound webpage an updated to this program ( for vista users ) I decide to install again ,follow the steps on the website : the installation

then I install the update for vista users

but the problem with my laptop still the same ... when I click on shutdown , the windows its stay hang ... I NEED TO PUSH THE ON-OFF BUTTON WITH MY FINGER to shutdown completaly always...

then when I turn on ,, showme windows cant shutdown correctly and then showme the choices if I want to start windows normally ... then push OK ...

can any please helpme on this ?

My first guess would be this program is not wanting to shut down, download Ccleaner[it has a startup manager in it] and disable this program at startup. The shortcut will still work, these programs do not need to run until you need them, like hp updates, alot of things dont need to run all the time.

I download this program and run on my pc, but I cant see "it has a startup manager in it"
In "tools" see a "startup" then run but I cant see any thing about "printshop22" or something about it ...

.... waiting ....

 

Try going to start, help, and support, type in compatability, and click on 3. start program compatability mode, click to open compatability wizard, click next, click the first item, I want to choose from a list of programs, click next, and it will search for your list of programs, then click on printshop22.
I have to go off-line , now, others will help, I am sure.

 

I had Broderbund Printshop Deluxe in 1996. It was a pain in the *** in Windows95 then.
I also thought that Broderbund went bust or were bought out or something?

Is you version Vista certified?

The Broduerbund Kid Pix software was a different kettle of fish - light years ahead of it's time.

 

My windows system its vista ( original and actived ) certified ? I dont know what this?

-I run the compatibility wizard to this program and nothing happen. . .

-the program PrintShop22 runs oks on my laptop that not the problem, the problem its ( because I see the results ) all the 3 times when I install... then my laptop hangs at shutdown ( dont shutdown completaly )

- I run the program CCleaner and I dont see on start up ( anything about broderbound )

-I have on my pc the program installed called "Yamicsoft Vista Manager v 1.01" and I run, but I can see too on startup any thing about "broderbound - or Printshop 22 "

If I try to unistall on this time the program "printshop22" my pc still hangs at shutdown" that not resolve my problem but ...I am certain if I format all my disk drive to the original state when I buy this laptop, everything its fine and working good, and If I install again this program , "THE PRINT SHOP 22" the laptop cant shutdown ...

any help ? because I have a week ago using my finger on the button On-off to shutdown my laptop . . . ..

When you are ready to shut down
Close all programs and return to the desktop
open task manager
(ctrl+alt+del once)
Choose task manager.
Is anything shown as running
Note it and post the name here then choose end task.
Will the pc shut down when the process has ended?

you can also bring up task manager [ control alt delete] and look at processes and see whats eating up the cpu and memory. Dont consider system idle process. ed

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the program and the fix for Vista for the program - it could just make that difference, as Vista can still prevent you properly iinstalling an older program - I had to do this for a program.

But although it is for versions up to XP, I was duverted back when asking for Vista version - but I am unsure if it will work with Vista.
Perhaps someone more versed with this part of Windows can advise- I suppose it could be worth trying, but if it causes a reformat situation, please don't blame me, as I have not got my Vista machine handy to try it.
