Windows Vista ISO File

    Hi

    I'm currently working on a computer which is refusing to connect to Microsoft update. I've researched the error code 80070490 and apparently its the cbs manifest corrupted and I need to perform a repair install

    Unfortunately I don't have a disc for windows vista and was wondering if I could get an ISO file somewhere? I know I can for Windows 7 Systems but not sure about Vista.

    It is a genuine version of windows vista and I have the product key etc

    Hi

    You can get the Vista ISO via MSDN if you have an account, but other avenues are not legitimate I'm afraid and I would not validate their authenticity as to if they are malware free.

    Check with the original OEM maker of the computer you have and see if they supply a repair CD/DVD for that machine.

    If you know someone who has a Vista based PC then you could create a repair cd, info HERE

    Thanks for that,

    Can I use any vista system to make the repair cd? or does it have to be identical? in this case Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

    I would use an identical version as in Home Premium, Ultimate, Basic etc but any should be fine, I have never had issues using Ultimate repair CD on Home Premium and vice versa, as all you are doing is trying to repair Windows opposed to re-installing it.

    Once you can boot to the repair CD then you have the options to fixboot etc, which should hopefully repair that PC. If the issue is more serious as in hardware failure then indeed you may need new hardware and or the full Vista OS to re-install.
